Ruth Blesi works with the real and the imaginary, the analogue and the digital. Her “imagineered sculptures”, as the name suggests, are both imagined and engineered. Like an ancient alchemist in modern-day guise, she makes technoid-looking sculptures of black modelling clay and integrates them into landscapes she has photographed on her travels, blending the individual parts to create a fictitious, sci-fi world.
