Upcoming exhibition

Street. Life. Photography – Seven Decades of Street Photography

11.09.2020–10.01.2021

Friday, 11.09.2020, from 18:00
Opening and aperitif

The exhibition Street. Life. Photography presents one of the most exciting photographic themes of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries: street photography. It will include contemporary as well as classic international works from the last seven decades by photographers like Diane Arbus, Robert Frank and Joel Meyerowitz. Showing both historical and contemporary positions in parallel allows visitors to track some of the key aesthetic developments in street photography. Kaleidoscopically arranged, the seven sections of the exhibition illuminate some of the main themes of street photography – street life, crashes, public transfer, urban space, lines and signs, anonymity and alienation – with newly created contexts opening up intriguing and sometimes bizarre connections. The show is curated by Sabine Schnakenberg (Deichtorhallen Hamburg) and adapted for its run in Winterthur by Nadine Wietlisbach.
